Twilight Movie: Nominee For Best Waste Of Money On A Movie Ever

Anyone seen Twilight yet?

I was cruelly dragged by friends against my will to go and watch the 'eagerly anticipated' Twilight movie (eagerly anticipated by the Twihards or Twerds, as they're calling themselves now) starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson has leads Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, the vampire.

Having read all of the books, I find myself in a position where I can make an informed decision as to my opinion on these pieces of fiction brough into this world by Stephenie Meyer, who has been dubbed, in some instances, as the new JK Rowling. This would be another blog in itself if I wanted to start ranting about how COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY INACCURATE THIS ASSUMPTION IS - but I haven't got time to do that rant, so I'll leave it there. (SHE'S NOT JKR, SHE NEVER WILL BE)

Not being a fan of the novels (or a 'Twihard'), I decided that I would, at least, go and see the film with an open mind - if only because I wanted to SURVIVE the screening, because as my dear friend Alice discovered when she posted an against Twilight poem on the net Twilight fans are scary, and they would have killed me if I had done anything remotely anti-Cullen.

So here I was, no popcorn in hand (so unfair. Who knew popcorn cost so much?), ready to watch THE WORST FILM KNOWN TO MAN.

Whoops. Guess I just ruined the conclusion.

I mean, PLEASE. Who told Kristen The Alleged Drug Taking Stewart she could act? And Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner? LAUGHABLE. The two taking the crown for least convincing roles have to be the actresses playing Rosalie and Alice, whose portrayal of their characters was the reason by friend leant over to me and whispered, "This HAS to win best Comedy at the Oscars this year."

The film dragged on, and yet the storyline seemed rush; the dialogue was corny and cheesy; the ending was twee and yet ridiculously anti-climaxy; and worst of all, the gore of Bella's blood on the glass, her bone break, the bite and Edward 'saving' her and, worst of all, Alice SNAPPING THE NECK of James, the avenging vampire, was disgusting to watch.

So if you're into wasting your own time and money, go see Twilight. Or if you have better things to do (which I'm positive you will have) DON'T go and see Twilight anytime soon.

Let Me Introduce You...

...to my story. It's called the Conterra Boys, and it's about these five boys, selected to join the Conterra organization in New York City, where they must work to preserve the world around them from the destroyers and creators, who want to tear it apart.

It's up to Elijah West, Ruben Hirst, Alex Furcifer, Mathieu Dupont and Santiago Rodriguez to save the world from a horrific fate - but with betrayal as their only ally, how can they hope to survive in such a world of lies?

I'll post the first chapter soon - or check out my NaNoWriMo page for more details (28000 words, people!)

Yey! My birthday!

Doesn't the title say it all? Needless to say that it's the truth. Another year older, and some fabulous presents...all were amazing - especially a thank you to Alice (GottaLoveTheCoffeeBean - check her out on fanfiction.net), because that wallpaper is freaking fabulous!

And I also found something truly amazing. HARRY POTTER CLUEDO, PEOPLE! Seriously. You can play as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Neville or GINNY, who is, by far the best character. My friend accused me of lesbianism when I said Bonnie Wright was pretty. I just growled at her.

And I really really think you owe it to yourself to watch this beautiful video - I love the song, and the pics are amazing. All credits to its creator, of course - check it out here

Ooh....How much I love H/G...

Harry and Ginny are my joint first place all time pairing. Ever. They're on a par with Percy and Annabeth. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

So I've started posting my HG stories on here - it's an awesome Harry and Ginny site, and I'm really excited to be writing there, too! I've posted my Lost and Found story and my new HG story, Reflections, on there, and so far the response has been positive - feel free to check it out.

I heard Rick Riordan is in Britain, but my mum won't let me go see him. Boo hoo. Oh well - I'll try to brainwash him into giving Percabeth a happy ending instead. *must-write-more-detailed-kiss-than-page-203*

The Jonas Brothers Are The Worst Evil

My R.S essay - you know I'm right. DOOM ON JONAS BROTHERS!

THE WORST EVIL – THE JONAS BROTHERS

Young people in recent times have come under criticism for their narrow-minded approach to living their lives – they are constantly reprimanded for their lack of consideration for the consequences of their actions and their lack of attention paid to important life lessons in ethics and morality. For years, their elders have looked on in vain, desperately questioning why on earth their children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces have turned out so careless and irresponsible. Only now has the answer – this true evil in our midst – been unveiled; and it comes in the form of American pop brethren, the Jonas Brothers.

All that this ‘boy-band’ stands for is corrupt and damaging to young minds everywhere. For a start, they describe the genre of music they play as rock – a blatant lie, of course, which so clearly glamorizes dishonesty from a young age. They also have made a priority of singing about flippant, shallow issues such as girls and their affections for them – one video in particular begins with Joe Jonas discussing with his two siblings, Kevin and Nick, that he is sure that a bikini-clad is waving at him; even though the three have publicly worn purity rings to demonstrate their celibacy until after marriage. The three also have talked flippantly about driving dangerously and even murder – Joe Jonas once remarked to an interviewer that he was going to, “kill you, put you in the trunk of my car, take you to the desert, then I’m gonna see if your okay.” Such disregard for morality and consideration is poisoning young peoples mind to the point of disorientation. There are sites across the internet that claim to be Jonas Brother fanfiction – teenage girls across the world are so blind to the world around them and so addicted to this teenage phenomenon that they are even confused as to what is even fact or fiction anymore.

The total disregard the brothers seem to manufacture which is then lapped up by their adoring fans is what is causing this spiral into irresponsibility and lack of consideration towards their futures. They play on the Disney Channel, a channel aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 14, and sing constantly about the pains of adolescence and romantic feelings for the opposite gender – encouraging their younger listeners into growing up at an alarming rate and could potentially lead to more teenage pregnancies as teenage romance is so glamorized. It is this blindness that the band seems to radiate – this total disregard for what really matters – that is causing the damage. It may sound ridiculous, but who is to say that there isn’t a criminal intention behind the Jonas Brothers and their quest to gather legions of fans across the globe? Why do these three boys think that they have any right to distract younger people from their studies and in turn oppress their individual spirit into just another fan who cannot see further than past Kevin Jonas’ hairline? Recently a young, intelligent girl announced to me that “every time she closed her eyes, she saw Joe Jonas” - and that he was all she could think about. One can only hope their domination will soon end and we will be free from this controlling, immoral enterprise that is the Jonas Brothers – before it’s too late.

My Friend Needs Your Help

The title kinda does its job well, doesn't it?

Now, my friend Bridger is writing a story and when we started the story, she needed a name for one of her characters. I came up with Ruben Hirst, which I've had ear-marked as a good character name for a while - she liked it and so it stuck.

But now I've come up with a story idea that I really really love and she's offered me the name back - in return for my own name, Bronte. So now she needs a character name - she just doesn't know what.

The character is supposed to be hot, young, smart, sophisticated, quite rich but ever-so-slightly arrogant. He has burnt caramel coloured hair (her words, not mine) and dark brown eyes.

Any ideas? Let me know via fanfiction PM or via blog,

Reflections Released!

I'm happy to say that my new Harry/Ginny oneshot (Harry Potter) has been released! Reflections is a romance story, and it's taken me nearly a whole week to write (mainly because I was writing it in any spare moments I could find!)

I hope you like it - I am considering starting a Harry/Ginny collection of oneshots, but I want to concentrate on finishing off my final few chapters of my Battle of my Labyrinth story! Nearly at the end - Chapter 21! Quite scary, when you come to think of it!

I'm also about to make a calendar to count down to The Last Olympian, the final book in the PJO series, next May! TLO's cover is yet to be released, but I'm dead excited as to what it's going to be!

Nothing else to add for now - I'm still here, waiting for Heroes to re-start. Does Clare turn evil? Are Nathan and Niki really dead? Will Mohinder's sister, Shanti, resurface after all these years? MUCH EXCITEMENT!

Got to go - TTYL,

Happy September!

Greetings to all!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while - stupid school, homework, school, a bit more homework...you know the drill. Totally exhausted, but hey! That's just sleepless nights, too excited about the start of Heroes...

Okay! The first piece of news is a huge apology for my less-than-speedy updating. I'm blaming that on school, too. I'm sorry! Writers' Block is a cruel and beastly thing. But now, I have ideas. I have inspiration. Everything's okay.

The second piece of news is that throughout October/November/December I will be taking part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and I already have loads of ideas! Let me introduce Elijah West, my hero (of the story!), Harlow Dennison (his kick-ass abductor!), Ruben Hirst, Alex Furcifer and Beau d'Accordez - they don't know it, but when they are abducted and find themselves in the mysterious Conterra building in Manhattan - with forces at work in their lives that even they could not have forseen....

The third piece of news is that I have the next chapter of With Or Without You ready and waiting and also a surprise story too....

Want to hear about it? Okay, you've persuaded me. It's a Harry/Ginny story - Ginny's POV, in one boring history of magic lesson..but what if History is to repeat itself - or even worse - that history already has?

"The attack was spearheaded by Hussain el-Khalid, who was a fearsome Serbian sorceror with supreme magical talent - he is, in folklore, idolized as the hero of the Battle of Khan-il-Habir, having selflessly plunged into a devastating battle after leaving behind his true love so that his comrades could prevail in defeating their Western enenmies -"

Ginny sat up, her eyebrows furrowing as she contemplated his words. The girl...She shuddered, but she was unable to let her gaze slip out of the window once more. Something about the story had caught her off guard...

Does it sound okay? I hope you liked it - if you're interested, it should be up soon. I've been writing this for days!

Nice to catch up with you - check out my page (http://www.fanfiction.net/believeinthegods) for all my stories!

Monday 18 August 2008

Okay, I have another story idea...

Ok, how about this - a short, sweet piece about Annabeth and Percy going on a date...but we don't get to the actual date. It's just when they meet up before the date begins. And Percy is very almost late, but he does something so incredibly romantic and selfless it doesn't matter.

It sounds better than I have described. I promise. That is a pretty bad summary you're looking at.

But anyway. Let me know. CrayolaMarkers, thanks for commenting - your story is amazing.

I've Fallen In Love...

...with this story..

It's by CrayolaMarkers, and its called A Frosty Winter. And it's the most adorably perfect thing I've read in a long, long time.

Thank the gods for Crayola Markers. Thank the gods for Percabeth. Thank the gods for fanfiction.

Thank the gods for 'A Frosty Winter'.

Look what I found...

Check this out - a great, short but sweet Percabeth story - I don't know the author is, but all credit to them. I totally wanted more Percabeth scenes like this in Battle of the Labyrinth, but hey-ho.

We'll just have to write them ourselves. *sighs*

With Or Without You - Chapter Ten

Having just updated my Percabeth story, I feel a sudden urge to write yet another chapter, due to the demand this story seems to have!

My dilemma is what to write! I have two main ideas, but I need help choosing which one to write about.

The first was Percy and Annabeth in the future, in their twenties or something - engaged and living together in New York City. I don't know that after thew last chapter (which was of a predicted future, where Percy's death is imminent and he asks her to marry him, because he hasn't got much time left to live - a little hypocritical if he's alive in his twenties, don't you think?)

The second idea was a songfic using my new favourite song and current obsession, "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" by an awesome Irish band called The Script (check it out here - the lead singer, girls, is rather cute....!) It would be in Percy's POV, set directly after BOTL, when Annabeth is blanking him and being all mean like she is at the end of BOTL.

So, what do you think? The first would be more romantic, the second would include a great track. The first would be more happy, the second would be more thoughtful. I really don't know what to do - and that's where you come in!

Please leave a comment, letting me know which you think would work best - I really need your help here, guys! (And don't just vote for the second one because the guy from The Script in the video looks really hot - almost like an older Percy!)

Thanks once again - happy fanfiction reading!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my brand new blog, Confessions Of A Wandering Mind - where I can share my update news, my beta news and basically have a chat with anybody who happens to stumble across my ramblings.

I'm believeinthegods (you probably guessed), and I'm a fanfiction writer and aspiring journalist. I write mainly for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Maximum Ride and Harry Potter - my favourite being Percy Jackson, by Rick Riordan.

I've published nine stories on the site so far - my most popular story, Battle of my Labyrinth (Percy Jackson), has twenty chapters so far and total of over 32,000 hits! My most recent story is a collection of Percabeth oneshots entitled With Or Without You, which is probably my favourite story that I write.

It's here, on this quaint little blog, that I'll share the news and views I happen to dream up, and all the fanfiction alerts I'd like to broadcast to the universe!

I hope you enjoy it here - pop back whenever you feel the need; leave a comment, let me know your thoughts and opinions. Have a great day, doing whatever you're doing.
